Coolangatta is the Gold Coast's southernmost suburb, sitting right on the border with Tweed Heads, with Gold Coast Airport just next door. That mix of border town and flight path means buildings here pick up more than the usual coastal grime — aircraft exhaust and constant onshore wind on top of the salt spray coming off Snapper Rocks and Greenmount Beach.
The housing stock reflects the suburb's age. Marine Parade and the streets around Kirra Point still carry a lot of the original mid-century brick and rendered walk-up apartments, sitting alongside newer high-rise developments closer to the beach. Older render holds onto salt and grime differently to newer paint systems, so we adjust our approach block by block rather than running the same method on every job. Griffith Street's shopping strip and the cafes around Rainbow Bay and Greenmount get heavy foot traffic from surfers and beachgoers most of the year, which means entryways, footpaths and outdoor seating need more frequent attention than a typical suburban street. |
